Manufactured homes are common enough around Floresville that we carry different tooling for them, and the duct system inside one has almost nothing in common with an attic system. Supply air travels through a trunk inside the floor cavity and comes up through registers in the floor. In a doublewide there is also a crossover duct, a flexible tube slung underneath that carries air from one section to the other, and it is the most common failure we find out here. New does not mean sealed. Production-built systems routinely have unsealed takeoffs, boots that were never mastic-sealed to the drywall, and flex that was pulled tight over a corner. It is quick, cheap work on a young house, and doing it before the first cleaning means you are not paying to clean air that is escaping anyway.

One section of our doublewide never cools. Where do you look first?
Under the house, at the crossover duct. It is the single most likely cause of one section running hot, and the failure is visible: a tube on the ground, a torn belly, or a collar that has slipped off the takeoff. If it is torn or has been lying in dirt it needs replacing rather than cleaning, and that is under-home work with its own price, quoted before we start.
Can floor ducts be cleaned properly?
The reachable portion can, and it is usually worth it, because a floor duct catches more solid debris than any overhead system ever will. The limitation is that we work from the register openings and the plenum, so a section that has been crushed by a floor jack or has taken water gets photographed and reported rather than brushed. Wet duct in a floor cavity is a repair conversation, not a cleaning one.
Our house near the square is old and the ductwork was clearly added later. What should we expect?
A mapped route before a quote. Where a system was fitted into a house framed without one, the runs tend to thread through closet chases and low crawl spaces with more turns than anyone planned, and the return is usually a single grille doing all the work. In those houses sealing the return and correcting a crushed section typically improves things more than cleaning the branches does.
