How often does the bulb need replacing?

Our house near the square has one return grille in the hallway. Is that why it is always dusty?

Very likely part of it. When a system is short on return capacity the blower makes up the shortfall through leaks, and in a retrofitted Seguin house that means attic air and insulation fibers entering at the boots. Cleaning removes what has settled and does nothing about the mechanism. Sealing the return side, and sometimes adding a second return, is what actually changes the outcome.

Ours is a factory-built home with the vents in the floor. Can those ducts be cleaned?

The trunk and branches in the floor cavity can be worked from the register openings, and we camera what the scope reaches. Two honest limits apply. Floor registers collect everything that gets swept or spilled, so the first few feet are often worse than the rest of the run, and a floor duct that has been crushed or has taken water is a repair rather than a cleaning. Probably one inspection and nothing more. Systems built in the last fifteen years are clean from use. What they occasionally hold is sanding dust or an offcut left in a boot before the registers were screwed on. If the boots are clear and each room is getting its share of air, that is what the report will say, and you get an interval rather than a quote.
