UV Air-Purification Light Installation in Duncanville
UV-C lamps installed where moisture lets microbes grow.
01Duncanville — the housing record
What Duncanville actually has behind its walls.

What that means for ducts
Mixed-era stock
Duncanville splits across build eras — 24% pre-1980, 2% since 2010 — so two houses on the same street can need completely different work. It is the case where guessing from the curb is worst, and where a camera before a quote saves the most money.
That is a reading of the city’s stock, not a diagnosis of your home. Which of it applies to you is exactly what the camera settles — and why we would rather run one than quote from a postcode.
02Working in Duncanville
The part that changes from street to street.
Duncanville has essentially stopped building. Almost nothing has gone up here since 2010 and not much in the twenty years before that, so the housing is the 1970s and 80s stock it was a generation ago and the ductwork is the oldest we routinely work on in the southern suburbs. That vintage carries a specific condition we check before anything else. Fiberglass duct board plenums and trunks were standard then, and after decades of air movement the interior liner erodes into something friable. Running a brush through a plenum in that state releases more into the air than the dirt ever did, so the correct answer is replacement by an HVAC contractor and we will not pretend otherwise to keep the job. Most homes here heat electrically, which means no flue and a single cabinet holding the blower, coil and heat strips together. That cabinet is where we start and often where the whole finding sits.

03UV Air-Purification Light Installation — in this stock
When a treatment is actually indicated.
Treatments are offered on evidence, not on age. In mixed stock that means the camera decides: staining, animal intrusion, or a documented moisture event. No indication, no treatment — and our technicians are not paid on what they add.

Will a UV light purify the air in my whole house?
Not by itself, and we'll never claim otherwise. Air moves past the lamp too quickly for much single-pass effect; UV's real work is keeping continuously wet surfaces — coil area, drain pan — clean, which prevents the microbial growth and odor that start there.
How often does the bulb need replacing?
Annually, as a rule. Germicidal output fades long before the visible glow does, so a lamp can look alive while doing little.

05Questions
Asked in Duncanville, answered straight.
Think of it as surface hygiene that complements filtration, not a force field.
How often does the bulb need replacing?
Annually, as a rule. Germicidal output fades long before the visible glow does, so a lamp can look alive while doing little. We put a dated label at the unit when we install, show you the swap procedure, and the replacement is a simple, inexpensive routine from there.
The plenum above our furnace is gray fiberglass board, not metal. Can it be cleaned?
Sometimes, and sometimes cleaning it is the wrong move. If the liner is intact, gentle tooling is fine. If it has gone soft or fibrous, brushing it sheds material into your supply air, and the honest recommendation is replacement rather than a cleaning we could easily sell you. We photograph the interior and let you see the surface for yourself.
This house is from 1979 and nothing has ever been done to the ducts. Is that dangerous?
Not dangerous by itself, and age alone is not a reason to clean. What matters in this stock is mechanical condition: a trunk that separated behind a soffit, a boot that lost its seal, insulation that has fallen away from a run in a hot attic. Those cost you money continuously and are worth fixing. Dust in a duct usually is not.
We have no gas and no furnace, just one unit in the closet. What gets looked at?
The blower wheel, the evaporator coil, the heat strips and the drain pan, which is where nearly every real complaint in an all-electric Duncanville house begins. Blower wheels in this age of equipment collect a felt of dust on each blade, which quietly cuts airflow across the whole house. That is a cleaning worth doing, and it is not a duct cleaning.
